Lights and Balls in Ponderings of the Universe

I’ve had such a wonderfully lazy day filled with dog snuggling and online Christmas shopping.

Thursday, Kat, Genevieve, Aaron and I went to the Thom Yorke concert at Northrup Auditorium. He’s Kat’s favorite artist. The show sold out really quickly and we ended up with individual seats rather than sitting together as a group. I enjoy some Radiohead songs but when I tried to listen to the recent Thom Yorke stuff on Spotify I kept skipping songs. Sadly, I can’t say I appreciated the concert. It was mostly electronica type music, which I’m not really a fan of. I spent the majority confused and unsure when to clap because I couldn’t tell when most of the songs were over. The couple sitting next to me were too into each other, if you know what I mean. Kat really enjoyed it, though, and that’s what matters most.

Friday I worked a half day and had some ridiculous work shenanigans. Technician M read that if you inject testicles (not still attached to the animal, of course) with hydrogen peroxide, you can use them like bouncy balls. I was intrigued and had 2 cat neuters to do, so afterwards we tried it. Some kind of weird chemical reaction happens and the testicles get really firm and they do bounce if you drop them, but not as dramatically as bouncy balls. I compared with injecting saline and there was a marked difference. It was a weird experiment and I’m hoping to try it on some larger testicles to see what happens. I also wonder if you’d get a similar effect with ovaries.

Friday night, Aaron and I drove to Duluth. The next day, Genevieve met us up there and we had delicious lunch at OMC Smokehouse and wandered until she had to leave. Once dark, Aaron and I went to Bentleyville, which is my favorite Christmas activity. It was SO crowded! The other times we’ve went it’s been more off-days so I definitely wasn’t prepared. It wasn’t as cold as last year, at least, and I think more people being there cut down on breeze off of Lake Superior :P

It is very shiny and magical, though. These pictures don’t do it justice a all.

It was so nice to be able to spend time and relax with Aaron. He’s been so incredibly busy with school since it started that we’ve barely spent any time together since then. Our only goal was to make it to Bentleyville, so the whole weekend was very laid-back. We slept a lot, watched some TV, napped, at tasty food and just hung out. It was very relaxing and cozy :)
