All the Cake in Ponderings of the Universe

I took today off too so I could have a nice, lazy day. And nice and lazy it was! I spent a lot of time curled up doing mindless stuff on my phone, grocery shopping online, and paying some bills with the doggies. Such cozy.

Yesterday started out as a weird birthday.

Got my fillings refilled. Apparently one was deeper than the dentist thought so they had to numb me up really good. Half of my face and tongue were completely numb for a few hours. It amused me. At the beginning, my body thought it woudl be fun to have a panic attack, which is weird since I usually do pretty well with dental procedures. ::shrugs::

Afterwards, mum and I went to go pick up my cakes from the bakery. Except they had that the cakes were to be picked up the following day. D’oh! Ah well, late cake is better than no cake at all, right?

We then got chai across the street and wandered a cute boutique.

After that, we decided we’d go to the animal shelter we don’t usually go to since it’s a little far away. And when we got there it was closed! Double d’oh! And so was the other affiliated one we usually go to, so maybe they were having an education day or something, I’m not sure.

After this, the birthday fails end :P

We then decided to go to the newly opened Bell Museum of Natural History (and checked to make sure it was open lol!). It used to be a rather dingy, rundown museum but the new building and arrangement of their collections are so beautiful and charming! Their mammoth replica is breathtaking.

Will definitely be going back. It’s a great winter activity for sure!

Then we went to The Finnish Bistro for a late lunch. I have no idea what I ate, but it was delicious. It involved potatoes, fancy butter, a rye crust and other stuff.

Afterwards, we wandered around a local mall and discovered that is has an exciting new food hall thing. Lots of tasty looking food and a full bar, plus a bakery. Very cool. I also bought this on clearance:

We went home and a cake Aaron made greeted me on the counter. I had told him about the cake mishap and he was sweet enough to make one for me <3 <3 <3

Then we ordered takeout because no one wants to cook on their birthday :P

Mom picked up my cakes this afternoon, so there will be EVEN MORE CAKE. Mmmm....
