love will not come down as a conquering warrior
love will not come as some pretty twenty-four
frame-per-second blur animated by the flicker
love will come to you in rags as if a refugee
love will come as ancients came unto the hearth
clandestine gods and goddesses in beggar clothes
hoping that your heart may have accrued immunity
to surface illusions like the clothes we wear
love will come not as flash of light in the sky
love will come in compromise
love will come in negotiation
love will come but over time
love will be a hell of a lot of work
and if it isn’t that
then it isn’t love
