they say the devil’s at the crossroads
they say that God will stop at city’s edge
they say the headless horseman stops after the bridge
that all the code is hidden in the the crosswords
the truth is on the ledge and that you cannot
start living ‘til someone’s left you for dead
I don’t know for any of that but just in case
I’m gonna keep running ‘til my legs give out
and whatever I meet there if anything
will see a busted shell so exhausted
that it won’t even bother to take me
a washed-out waste of effort for
any self-respecting predator
and in this calculation
hold onto myself
