Yesterday I called Student Loan Finance Corp to ask a simple question - what is payment amount going to be? I have a payment due on the 16th!
My loan was transferred in NOVEMBER and they still haven't figured it out. After several attempts (over several days) of un-answered voicemails, I finally got a live rep yesterday after 20 minutes of holding. She was rude, uninformed, and unhelpful in the extreme. I was getting upset so told her "OK. That's all. I'm done talking to you. " and hung up.
And she called back immediately and asked me, "Was that really necessary?" And I lost it and exploded on her.
"Was that necessary? Is it necessary for this to have taken 4 months? Is it necessary for your company to ignore repeated calls and voicemails, then make me hold for 20 minutes to talk to someone? Then to make me talk to rude bitches who are extremely unhelpful and uninformed? No? Fuck you, I'm done. But at least now I know how to get a call back." She was quiet for a few minutes... then said, "ok I'll note that on your account."
I'm sorry, I don't usually lose it on people like that. I have me under control pretty well. I've never abused third party people. I'm even nice to telemarketers! The only reason I'm so frustrated is because this has been going on since November. And last time I talked to someone about it - January 3rd - I thought it was taken care of. So here it is, a month later, and it hasn't been addressed yet.
UGH. I wish I there was something I could do.
Yesterday I had to go to work with a gun and stay pleasant. I did pretty good until about 9PM I started to get a bit snippy. But I am pretty much over it. Yesterday was just a nerve wracking day all around. Today has started out better - but I think I should probably address medical bills today. :( <3 Sarah

The problem is that the company actually benefits from having crappy customer service.

ugh. i wish i could think of who you could contact/what you could do! there's got to be another option.
i think i said this before, but could you take out a random loan/credit card and just pay off that sl with that? then you're done dealing with them.

I would... but this loan is my monster student loan. My loan alone is $50,000. It's not like some $3,000 thing I could pay off today. :(

I am so the same with customer service. I'm always nice because yo, I've totes been in customer service MY WHOLE LIFE. I can't stand people losing their shit on these people BUT when it comes to your situation, you can't fucking control it. I've lost my shit on a customer service person for my car insurance once and felt like a douche afterwards. But still, you get to that boiling point and it doesn't MATTER who's on the freaking other side.
The fact that she called back and said "was that really necessary" is fucking ridiculous. No wonder you lost your shit.

Yeah I know it sucks when customers get cranky pants. But I also know basic customer service and don't allow it to get to that point because I'm quite a bit better at dealing with people than this girl was.

I just can't believe she called BACK to make it worse! Rude.

I have a very small tolerance for stupid unhelpful rude people. What company are you with?
