there is no more reinvention now
no more evolution or rebirth now
social media has seen to that
whoever you were at twelve is
who you’re stuck with being
the electric receipts of
your eternal identity
now lock you down
in amber forever
no more phases
no more change
no more discarding ancient shames
just an eternal snapshot of who
you were the first time you were
allowed on a cellphone
or on the internet
and you can cut the cord
but they’ll still look you up
and you can wipe it all out
but it’s all on some old server
and you can go underground
but you gotta come up sometime
and it will be waiting for you
the worst parts of you all
framed on someone’s wall
