Write a letter to someone who believed in you even when you didn’t believe in yourself.

Mr. Borden,
Not only were you my favorite math teacher but my favorite teacher of all time. You treated your students like we were actual people. In 6th grade you commented on my sweater as “Classy”. Thank you for not lying to me when I asked about the ax in the bottom drawer of your desk. Thank you for thinking enough of us “children” to have an extra escape plan.
I was shy and didn’t have many friends then or through high school. You had moved with my graduating class from the Elementary to High School. I was so glad to be a part of that. You were a solid start to every day in a place where it seemed I couldn’t count on much. I just wanted to send you a message that as a teacher you have impacted my life just by being you.
