11/02 - Write a letter to your 14 year old self

Dear Matt.

The confusing feelings you are having are totally normal. You love your family, but do not feel bad in ANY way for the feelings you are experiencing, and do not believe the terrible advice that your pastor is preaching in his sermons on Sunday in reference to your feelings being an “abomination”.
You will meet people in the not too distant future who feel the same feelings you do, and you will not feel as alone. You live on a farm in the country and quite often feel you are the only person who feels the way you do, but trust me when I say that you most certainly are not. There is a bigger world out there for you to explore. Take the good from what you’re being taught in the church and try your hardest to ignore what they are saying about your natural feelings. It will be a struggle, and you will be very confused about some of the things your dad has to say about it, but stay strong. You will be independent one day and much more at ease with yourself. In the meantime, enjoy your childhood, because being an adult is nowhere near as fun :)

2) What are your top five (5) favorite movies?

Ooo this is always fun.

1/ The Truman Show - It always has been and I think always will. Namely due to this movie being EXACTLY what I thought my life was my entire childhood. I kept thinking, “This can’t be real. My life has to be a movie” and I would literally behave out of character thinking that I was being secretly filmed. Then this movie came out and I was like “OMFG”.
2/ Ghost - Adored Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg in this and for a 1990 movie, the special effects were very impressively done.
3/ The Butterfly Effect - just made me really think!
4/ The Forgotten - about a mothers unconditional love.
5/ Theo & Hugo Paris 05:59 - The most recent addiction to the list, a French gay film that was really heartfelt.

Of course there’s heaps more but I can only list 5 :P
