Writing that is. I have been overwhelmed by all the buzz going since the big announcement made.
I know of at least 3 pages on Facebook where people are venting, connecting, revealing their OD names, etc. It's kind of cool to see the real names and faces of some people you've only known by their OD name. I'm surprised by the fact that so many have no problem with revealing their true identities.
And the OD entries! Surprisingly, (or maybe not), OD has been working as good as it ever did up until yesterday. I think a lot of people could.not get in yesterday, myself included, but today's it's back to working fine. And of course every one is writing. So many sentimental and sweet entries. I found myself tearing up again and again. It's amazing to see how important that site was to so many people. Some incredible relationships have evolved from OD and if for no other reason, I think we can all thank Bruce for that. I'm not happy with OD ending, but I have no desire to bash Bruce for its demise. In my book, I owe him a huge debt of gratitude. That site and the people I met there, helped me through some rough times, cheered with me during the good times and brought some of the best people in the world into my life.
But now it is time to move on. I'm so glad to see so many old friends here. So let's all journal and visit, keep old friends and make new.ones.

You are so sweet. I don't want to bash Bruce either. It's because of him that Open Diary existed at all. The way I see it, Bruce has every right to step back and end Open Diary. Except for the fact that he might have sold it. But for whatever his reasons might be, he did not want to do this. Do you remember the old days when he would read and leave notes on diaries? It was always such a thrill and honor if he had left a note in your diary. But yes, it's time to move on now. I'm glad our community is able to stay together and it's because of Simple Mind that we are. Just imagine if we didn't have Prosebox. We would have all scattered to the wind. Funny you should mention that people are revealing their identities on Facebook. My anonymity means everthing to me and I would never want to reveal my real name. Oh, everyone knows me as Kerry and that's fine. But other than that, my last name isn't known to all and either is where I live and my mailing address. I like it that way. Thank you for this entry that like I said is very sweet. You can tell that it is because it's inspired me to leave this note. I am so glad you are here and I hope you will write more often now. I love to keep up with you and read your entries. Love your friend,

I feel the same way. I get so tired of hearing the bashing going on. If it were not for OD I would not have met the wonderful people I have met and my life would be so much different. Im not one for keeping my identity secret so I think its great that people are opening up a bit.

P.S. - I like your profile picture. You look very pretty because you are. :)

I made it over here! It's weird, with OD shutting down I was able to connect with a few 'faves' that I hadn't heard from in years. My last entry was admittedly a dud, mostly because I'm FB friends with almost all of my faves. But yeah, I was browsing around reading people's last entries, people I don't even know, and I was definitely getting misty! Did you ever read 'originalsinner'? I wonder what happened to him. I hope someone told him it's closing. Were you ever able to download yours?

I would guess that Open Diary is running better now because fewer people are using it and a lot of us have deleted our diaries. So maybe now the server can handle the load better. I'm grateful that it was there for me, grateful for all the friendships I made over the years. Now I'm here, and I'm happy to not feel obligated anymore to split my writing, reading and noting between two sites.

All this switching around has gotten me motivated to read and write again. Not sure how long that will last, though!
