1982: Girl on the Beach, black and white.

In the late 1970’s and 80’s, I drew on the beach almost every day. I would take my hangover and my journal to the beach to write and sketch. Often my friends Frankie and Connie Anderson would join me. This is one of the most charming pictures I drew out there on the sand….in the original.

For the internet and cell phone, color matters. The brown image vanishes, fades away, while the black and white one show clearly and crisply. When I see the brown girl, I smile. I like the gentleness of the image.

Bobbie came yesterday to arrange boxes for her new scrolls that will be going in a show in New York. She and George talked packaging for quite a while then she looked at the quilt. She liked it, and I am very pleased.

Her companion, Geoff, is also being very creative. They are making a documentary of both he and his brother’s lives in Scientology. The were two of the original members of the band “People,” and at the end the film will include the reunion of the band just this year.

  • Himself: He has some grand plans for scroll boxes.

  • Myself: Losing more and more words. I asked G not to tell me unless I asked, and he has been very good about it. Brunch and dinner out yesterday. I am feeling deficient in homemaking 101.

  • Reading: Michael Palin: Around the World in 80 Days..

  • Gratitude’s: Purely selfishly, that Bobbie loves her new quilt and says she is going to show it.
