Lair Of the Bear Monday 10/22/2018:
Maria and I decided to take the Moose up to a Mountain walking trail. About 900 am, we took off. It was about a forty minute drive up CO Highway 75. Through the towns of Morrison and Idledale, and about 2 miles east of Kittridge, is Lair Of the Bear, Jefferson County Open-space.
This is an easy to moderate, hiking park. Probably has about seven miles of trail, combined and they all connect, taking you back to the main lot. The parking lot holds maybe, forty vehicles at one time. I bet that weekends are crowded, and there are several Picnic areas.
We took the harness off Mr Moose, and readied him for the walk. The harness is only used for riding distances in the truck. It allows me to seat belt clip him. The belt clips into the seat belt latch, and the clip end attaches to a loop on the chest of the harness. He is able to move around , lay down, sit and stand. Also allow drooling out the window.
We took the Bear Creek Trail, to the first bridge over Bear Creek. Then to the fork of the the Castor Cut-Off, and the Bruin Bluff Trail. The Bruin Bluff Trail was decided upon. It is up and down. There are some steep parts but not overly strenuous. We went about a mile or so. it drops down and narrow. Maria said, “I am unsure with the dog”. I guess we could have done it, because we met a couple again, where the Castor Cut-Off and the Bruin Bluff meet again.

I rotated the map, but photobucket insists it be shown sideways, click the link and you can read it, the right way

Maria and Moose, at the rock outcropping, shortly we turned back from here.
Maria and Moose, about 3/4 of a mile up the trail, we have climbed up in elevation to about 150 feet from the trailhead.
A small meadow, near the junction of the Bruin Bluff and Castor Cut-Off trails. Fall colors have come and went, or not have shown as all, due to the dryness.
Moose getting a drink, he drinks well from a bottle.
We walked a little over 2 miles, and Moose did really great. Several months ago, this would not have been possible. He was excited due to the many smells and new environment. We rated the walk as a success and graded about 96%. The training has worked very very well.
