We Interrupt This Workday... in Everything Else

Apparently yesterday there was a threat email sent to the private catholic school about a shooting that would happen. I am not sure if it was sent to the elementary/junior high school or the high school. Parents were notified via text and the school went on lockdown. Nothing happened. Not a single thing. Law enforcement traced the IP to Hawaii, which is a long fucking way away from Montana. I don’t think it was a credible threat, but I do not have my finger on the pulse of the catholic “school” system. But it did not stop every single person on facebook from freaking the fuck out.

There was also an officer involved shooting* yesterday.

Needless to say yesterday and this morning has been a complete shit show on facebook. “Don’t you think they should cancel school today, or am I overreacting?” You are overreacting and the catholic “schools” already canceled classes for today. I think the poster wanted public schools to cancel too. Probably because she spent so much time on fb last night and doesn’t want to get up to get her kids ready for school! That is the mentality here. Cancel everything. There is one individual, Jackie, who has been in every discussion! First, she makes a point about homeschooling one of her children, but not the kindergartner, because I don’t know why. She had to weigh in on the shooting because apparently there was a person shooting at her neighbors house and “stalking” the neighborhood. FB seems to be the place to report this than the PD. The supposed shooting at her neighbors and the OIS were definitely not the same.

A lot has been mentioned about a shooting that happened over 24 years ago at a local elementary school. It was NOT a planned attack. It was a sad situation. A young boy (5th/6th grade) was being picked on because his mother had AIDS and it just got to be too much. He brought a handgun in an attempt to get people to leave him alone, it went off and the stray bullet struck another 6th grader and he died. Again, it was a sad situation, it was not planned, nor was it a mass shooting. “Jackie” makes a point of repeatedly mentioning the boy died next to her husband. It is just not the same situation as what has been happening lately. When I was in 8th grade a kid in my class brought a handgun to school, threatened to shoot a friend of his (jokingly). There were no shots fired, the gun was confiscated and “Chad” was paddled by the dean of boys. That might tell you how old I am since there was still paddling in schools and nobody brought a lawsuit! I know that from that day forward, “Chad” was on the straight and narrow. Lesson learned. Not saying that is the answer, just illustrating another “incident”. There have been no credible threats or actions in the last 25 years. I find it hard to believe that this one yesterday is anything more than some asshole sitting at home targeting weak IT systems. Believe me, that “school” system cannot have much IT security if they can’t even afford to buy new textbooks. A lot has changed in science since 1992!

So why “school”. Well this so called private school regularly has 4-6 valedictorians, and yet a few years ago one valedictorian couldn’t get into college because his math skills were below basic college math. So, how in the world are you cranking out valedictorians who cannot get into college without taking a remedial math course over the summer? They get their money and half ass their teaching. Clearly they don’t do background checks because one of their “teachers” was fired from a school district 30 miles away for improper conduct with female students. That is the biggest PERV alert ever.

And the officer involved shooting… I may be the only person who is concerned that our officers fired “several” rounds at a suspect who swung a rifle in their direction and only hit him once in the arm. Jesus! Two officers firing multiple rounds and one bullet hits his arm? What the actual fuck happens when they qualify? This is not the first time they have fired and missed! Several years ago a mentally unstable man was shooting at them and they fired a metric fuck ton of bullets, multiple officers, multiple weapons and they mostly hit the house. I think they hit the man three times and he did die, but fuck me. While I am happy this man who was clearly trying to commit suicide yesterday did not die, I am not comfortable with local law enforcement not being able to hit the broadside of a barn from fifteen feet away! Also, the grapevine says the man shot is/was an employee of ours. Sigh.

So, at the end of the day, drama over a meaningless threat, cops who cannot hit anything, overreacting to the meaningless threat and basically dumb people in general.
