We Don't Get to Be Badass in Book Five: Working Through the Maze 2018

One thing that is unfortunate about the difference between REAL LIFE Law and TV/CINEMA Law is that we don’t get to be badass even if the situation calls for it and we have the words for it.

Individual charged with beating his girlfriend to a pulp. We have valid no contact orders and are doing our best to get her medical and emotional care. Her best friend has been very giving and has been taking care of her.

Defendant sent 96 text messages littered with profanity, threatening the Best Friend and the Best Friend’s children. Promising to do vile, disgusting, and violent things to all parties if the Best Friend doesn’t ‘get on board’ with making Victim drop the case and go back to Defendant.

As I see the pictures of the victim and read the comments this man sent, I can’t help but think

“You just made a terrible mistake. You got my attention. I’m going to make you a project. I’m going to make sure that every time I see you in court, you hear the words ‘jail time.’ You are now my example case.”
