This was a good day in New Diary

I had a very good day. I did a lot of reading. I finished a chapter in my book Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. it was about the downfall of Mussolini. Benito Mussolini, the Italian dictator had strutted across the European scene for almost twenty years. But by 1943 he was a broken man. Italy and Germany were kicked out of North Africa. U.S and British armies invaded and conquered Sicily. The Italians had no stomach for fighting on their own soil. At various conferences el Duce pleaded with Hitler to make a separate peace with the Soviets so the Italian armies fighting in Russia could be released to defend their own soil. But Mussolini was never a match for Hitler. By 1943 he was a mere puppet of the Nazi Then he was deposed and arrested by the Italian King, Victor Immanuel. A new government would be formed headed by one Badoglio who would soon make a separate piece. Hitler moved quickly to take over Italy. I thought this was an interesting chapter.

In addition to reading I spent a lot of time with my girlfriend. I also did some housework. I did a lot of much needed dusting. Moving around and having good company really was a lifted my moods.

Awhile back, w hen living in my old apartment my apartment building was infested with bed bugs. I really had them bad. I had to pay for my own exterminator and get rid of most of my belongings. I bought a new living room furniture and a new computer. I also got a new desk. I got the furniture paid off and I only have two more payments on the desk. I will soon have the computer paid off. I am debating weather or not I should get a tv and cable after I finish my payments. I thought a lot a lot about this today as well. I can see some pros for a tv but also a lot of cons.

On the pro side I think having tv and cable would help me in the evening. I get so freaking lonesome at night. I would have tv and that would keep me company. But there is a plus side. My only option for cable would be Comcast. Comcast is a big rip off company. You have to sign up for two hundred channels, shit you never watch just to get a few channels you like. Their triple play package is way so expensive. I currently have Netflix and only pay $7.99 a month. This is a lot easier than paying for a tv and cable .It would be nice to have cable. But on the other hand it would be nice to be free of payments every month. Oh well, I have seven more months of computer payments. It isn't like I have to make a a decision about this now.

Speaking of Netflix I saw a great movie last night. It was called Downfall. It was about the final days of Adolf Hitler. It was based in part on the memories of a girl who worked as Hitler's secretary. It was a foreign film, made in Germany. The guy who played Hitler did a stand up job. In the end the secretary manages to escape after soon after Hitler committed suicide. She survived and lived to be a nice old age.

Well that is about it for now. I'm getting used to Prose Box. I like Open Diary format better. It was easier to use. But OD will soon be no more. It looks like this is going to be my new home so I better learn how to navigate this site.

I am so sick of winter. I am tired of being shut in. I am tired of the cold. I am tired of the snow. I am tired of not being able to go for a walk or even sit outside. Spring is only forty-three days away Whoppie
