Handed over to a micro-chip …… in The odd entries from life …….

There is a constant to daily life just know, it has changed a little this morning, this morning there was the usual sound on the hood of my coat, and the odd song from a bird in the naked winter braches above me, also off in the distance there is the sound of water in the swollen stream, as it passes by on it’s way to the beach; the change this morning is the sound of strong winds bending the branches of the many tree’s in our valley – the sound we can’t hear this morning!

I spent some time on the phone yesterday, organizing the new screen for the Mini, with our insurers we only have to pay an excess charge for the replacement, like most firms now you can’t talk with the people down the road, only some poor sole in a call centre, but I suppose I should be relived it is a human-being rather than a sole less micro-chip! Alas these people are not allowed to talk, just read from a computer screen ‘a cog in the machine’ at the end I’m handed over to a micro-chip to pay; I do hope it is behind a sturdy firewall. The deal is done and there coming next week ……

Ziggy has had a walk or two, our meadow is still very muddy, the agility trainer noted on Sunday ‘It’s a nice day, a few of these we can open the field to classes’ Since then we have had much heavy rain, a in the coming days the chance’s of rain are 100%, 90%, 100% and just 60% on Sunday. Poor lass hasn’t noted since!

One day last week …..

I have a friend that hit black ice on the road and ended up in the ditch. The insurance company said the roads are so bad they can't get to where the car is so they have to take pictures and send them in to the adjuster. She is single and so she is on foot until they get it fixed. It is not easy to be 79, on foot and it be icy and snowy. I live about 10 miles from her but I will help her all I can. And as much as I sometimes want to yell at the poor call center person I have to remind myself that they didn't write the policies that get me upset.

RYNote. I have no issue with call centre staff, I rather feel for them keeping up with a computer screen all day; some of those places are not happy with staff having comfort brakes. I year or two ago I was stuck at a rail station as the train I was book on was over loaded, as was the second! It wasn’t just me there were about twenty of us, a woman out of the office came to do her best. Once things were sorted a manager walked up looking rather pleased with him self! I hadn’t spoken to the woman, she was a secretary doing a managers job! I had a few words him, it was frosty day and I was in my second hour, I didn’t swear or shout I think my tone had affect. The third train arrived and I was ushered on the train first, I felt quite embarrassed go on before the others ….. I hope your elder friend get’s the attention she needs.

I have many times seen management take credit for what other staff does. And management reaps the reward of the work of others. Yes, I know there are some good managers. But in a lot of cases it is the staff that has been there far longer than the manager and like what they do that makes the manager look good. I've in the past been a part of staff like that.

And I didn't think you had a problem with the call center staff. I really feel for them and not sure I could be one.
