This week started with early church Sunday and breakfast at the dinner across the street from our place. Monday, yesterday, I played bridge and had lunch with my regular group-minus-one. Diane recently had a double mastectomy and is housebound while recovering at home so we had a sub for her. Bob and I went to a cocktail party with a different group of friends early evening. It began to rain about the time we left home and continued on and off the whole time we were there. The host couple have a lovely home and back yard with a partly covered patio and we were able to enjoy the rain, conversation, hors devours, and fresh air until the lightning came a little close. At that point we moved inside for dessert, more conversation and laughs. Drove home in the rain about nine PM.
Looking ahead at the rest of the week: We are subbing in a Pinochle club Thursday night with some new friends we recently met. Bob has a dentist appointment Friday morning.
And then Saturday!!! We are excitedly looking forward to going up into the foothills to an old mountain town where Mike and his friend Nick will be doing a show from noon until three at a very old “Saloon”. Many of our friends have indicated that they want to stop in for a set or so and some of Mike’s wife’s family from North Dakota and Vienna, Austria expect to hit town in time to join in the fun.
Speaking of Mike, he’s off again to Nashville the next weekend for more songwriting and smoozing. His wife and her sister are also going this time. They will have a lot of fun. Good things are happening for Mike’s musical dreams. I hope I live long enough to bask in his success.
