Back to normal? in A small but passable life.

As we say in the real world, Drumpf got played like the dumbass he is. But this is Bizarro World now. Enough said.

I can’t really remember the last time I scribbled in here. Maybe a week or so ago? Anyway nothing major has changed. Thursday, last week, Mom had an appointment with her dermatologist. Afterwards we had lunch at Village Inn. Friday she went to Nikki’s for a permanent. While she was doing that I wandered around the Goodwill store and Big Lots! I didn’t buy anything. Saturday and Sunday I sat here in my chair. Monday I went out early and had the emission inspection done on the car. It passed. I then dropped off a script for Mom at Walgreens. Then I went grocery shopping. I had a fist full of coupons. Tuesday I was back in my chair. Tuesday evening was another winning night at Rummikub. And yesterday I wandered and sat around Walmart for two hours while Mom had her mani-pedi done. I bought nothing while there.

I did manage to finish two books that I had put aside while on the road trip. The first was “Twilight of Authority” by Robert Nisbet and the second was “Starship Titanic” by Terry Jones.

“Twilight of Authority” was published in 1975. The author was pretty accurate in predicting the trajectory of neo-liberalism and capitalism and the growth of the military industrial take over of the country. Many of the things he said were likely to happen have already happened.

“Starship Titanic” was an idea by Douglas Adams who gave it to Terry Jones to expound on. A well written story.

I’ve got one fiction book left in the pile. I need to order more books from the library.

Mom is back to thinking about buying another car. I had her call her teacher’s credit union to get pre-approved for a loan. She was worried, kind of, about her age being a factor. It wasn’t. She was pre-approved. The parameters are: it has to be a 2011 and newer model, 100% financing of the retail NADA price at 3.14% interest, no penalty for early pay-off, and really, no limit on the amount of the loan, within reason.

I guess it’s good to have a credit score too high to accurately determine. At 850 or 900, does it really matter anymore?

The only sticking point is that to get the loan she’ll have to be on the full coverage insurance policy. That may be expensive. I’ll have to talk to my insurance lady about it.

So yeah, the predicted 113 degree days didn’t materialize. It was only 109 yesterday. And will be again today. The monsoon may arrive this weekend with a 40% chance of rain. It has been over three months since it has rained.

Sunrise is now at 5:12am. I’m still lying in bed until 8am. Why not?
