CLICKETY CLACK in Postcards 4

At a Convention in 2015.

“You will find it’s a noisy world out there,” the doctor said as I walked out of the Audiology clinic.

After an hour of adjustments, of fittings, of practice using my new hearing aids, and instructions with the tools they came with, I stepped out the main door of the VA.

“Hisssssssssss,” I heard across the valley from a piece of heavy equipment. ‘Swish, swish,” from the Valet parking guy’s jump rope. I could hear the turn signals click, the breaks hiss when you pushed them in, and the tires of every car on the freeway. All the high frequency sounds I hadn’t’ known were gone, had returned. There’s a tiny clatter of the keys on my keyboard. George’s voice causes feedback as he talks louder and louder with far away adjusters.

Life has a new normal…I’ll let you know how it goes. So far I am having a lot of fun.

Himself: Liking being busy. Suggested Costco for dinner and errands.
Herself: Ears, quilt, Ears…ears…ears…LOL
Reading: ‘The Health of the Presidents,” Bumgardener MD. “Point Loma,” La Playa Trails, and one more light one. Then back to Hillerman.
Watching: About an hour every evening…sometimes two.
Gratitudes: The truck and I remembered how to get to the Mission Valley VA.
