Last night, Wife said that she still hadn’t thought of a “good pose” for her picture with David Tennant. As common, more for her to obsess over and freak out about. Thus… when I started showing her photos of ideas? Christ… my Wife, dedicated to misery and criticism, has turned her gaze onto why OTHER cosplay choices are awful. 9th Doctor and 9th Doctor Genderbend? “Oh please, that is terrible! It looks like you’re out for a day of shopping; not CosPlaying.” I show her some more photos. “Who’s she supposed to be?” I look. Clearly, we have a 10th Doctor, an 11th Doctor, a gorgeous Amy Pond… and by process of elimination, Catherine Tate’s companion character Donna Noble. So, I said, “I bet that’s Tate’s character!” Wife spun on me (it is rather hot under all her layers) and said, “Tate?! Who the fuck is Tate?!” I internally rolled my eyes at the intensity of her response and said, “Catherine Tate. The tenth doctor’s last TV series Companion.” She thought again… and said, “AGAIN, looks like she’s just out shopping. Like 3 people displaying and their lazy friend!”

Oooh boy. Time to sleep!

Sleep is still coming hard to me. I struggled with it for several hours. Wife fell asleep almost instantly, but it was not a good sleep. She was talking in her sleep, which she rarely does, and moaning and moving around a lot. Her subconscious was… tortured? Pained? Struggling? Something. I finally got to sleep around 3 or 4… I woke up at 7 then 8 then 9.

We got to the Con and went straight to the photo op. It gave a brilliant example to Wife why working herself up into such a frenzy of misery as she had was foolish. David Tennant saw her, told her he liked her outfit, snapped a shot, and that was it. That was it. All of that misery and anxiety and frustration and anger about her costume, about what she was going to say, about how she was going to pose… all of that? Done in less than 15 seconds. BUT… her costume was a huge success. Lots of people asked to take her picture. Which was good. And hopefully… it was able to give her at least a little esteem since she put together an entire costume in less than a week.

We walked around a lot. Went to a Q and A from Charisma Carpenter (best known for Cordelia Chase in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel). Bought Wife a Mikasa Ackerman (from Attack on Titan) figurine. Even got a photo with a member of the 501st. Good thing? Wife got the bug. She’s all gung ho to go to a bigger, better con. I mean… it is Iowa… it isn’t that big. Hell, not even many people dressed up, really. So… it would be pretty cool to go to a bigger, better con. Especially if we can get more time to work on costumes. It’d be nice.

After about 4 or so hours at the Con, we went to visit my parents to show them the costumes.

That’s pretty much the day. Just… Con… which went better than Wife expected… saw my parents… which was kind of nice… and then relaxing at home. How was your weekend?
