gilgamesh the matador and
I’m the bull of heaven
enkidu picked up a sword
he’s been rolling sevens
history keeps changing up
but myth is writ in stone
and here I am anyway
feeling all alone

if it were raining outside
I would be allowed the blues
but the skies are azure bright
so I’ve got no excuse
they say bad weather’s coming
you can see the funnel cones
and here I am anyway
feeling all alone

we’re all older than the stars
and we’re roughly three years old
we’re all legends in our minds
in the stories long retold
we’re all the heroes in our epics
on recollection of the tale
we’re never once the villains
especially when we fail
we’ll always tout our victories
especially when we fail
we’ll take rewritten history
and carve it all in stone
so we can pretend we were never
feeling all alone
