What an awesome weekend.

Seriously, every time I ever feel like I could just turn parenting OFF for a little while, that night GUARANTEED, I will see, read, or hear something that brings me back to where I need to be, puts me in my spot and says, You can do this, now get out there!

So yesterday's plans were that I'd have a day to myself. I had no idea what I was going to do or where I was going to go. The plans (or lack thereof) were changed when my puppy needed to be taken to the vet (due to strange behaviour and a change in bowel movements). He was all good though, everything was sorted and while in the next town I decided to buy two yellow baby chicks for my girls. They are about a week old at most, and extremely adorable! We have chickens already but they were bought at 4 months old or more, and I really wanted my girls to experience baby chicks in their hands. I came back home with the puppy and chicks, and when I got home, L was sitting in the backyard on a picnic blanket with the girls, having a picnic! Oh my goodness what a good man!!! I sat with them for a while and then was tired. I wanted to head out again but was still unsure as to where I would go (we are about 15kms from our town, which offers nothing on a weekend, and a minimum of 40kms from the towns either side of us, neither of which offer MUCH on a weekend). Finally I headed out to the local town and sat at a park, writing and fleshing out thoughts. It was the best. I got home and still pretty well pretended I was childless while L took over the child-related business for the afternoon. I sat outside and played my guitar for a good hour (woohoo!) and eventually we settled into the night and did bedtime etc. Then I watched Australia's Got Talent and saw a really inspiring dad on the show.

Sunday (being today), I took the girls to church and while they were in Kids Church, I was inspired and encouraged and uplifted by the message that was given today. It applied directly to my parenting and was just what I needed for the week ahead. I loved how the guy prayed that our behaviour might reflect that we have taken in today's message in the coming week, I thought, what a wise thing to ask.

Anyhow. Then I went back home and L had packed the bikes in the ute as planned, and he also packed lunch for us, so off we went to the next town for a picnic lunch and a bikeride!!! It was good - slow with the littlest one but that's expected - my legs still got a good workout.

At the picnic lunch, M said she had a sore tooth. I have been thinking lately that her teeth should start to get loose soon surely, so as soon as she said that, I had a look in her mouth................. well the tooth she said was sore wasn't loose, but 3 OTHER TEETH next to that are loose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean............... just WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She was so so so excited, and so was I, and we hugged and cuddled.... she's really growing up. I mean, obviously she's growing up everyday, but to us parents, since we live with her everyday, the changes aren't as obvious until something like a physical change occurs, such as the first step, or the first loose tooth. She talked about the tooth fairy. She said about a million times all afternoon, "I can't believe I have a wobbly tooth!" So so so cute!!! At one point we were playing I Spy, and L said she should go first and she said, "Yeah, because I have a wobbly tooth." LOL - logic!!!!! At one point it was L's sturn and he said, "I spy with my little eye, something beginning with W" .... M finally guessed it - Wobbly Tooth LOL!!! I LOVED how he made it really magical like that! :)

In the middle of dinnertime, M said, "I can't believe I have a wobbly tooth, I don't know why I keep saying that!!!!" LOL. I said, 'Maybe it's because you've never had one before!" and she was all smiles :) Finally at bedtime, I was tucking the girls in, and L (2 year old) says earnestly and wistfully, "I'm SO happy that I have a wobbly tooth..." - M and I took one look at each other and we CRACKED. UP. LAUGHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhhh so funny :) I love my girls. And I love my little M, she's just growing up, I mean, REALLY growing up now.............. all afternoon, she talked "grown-up" like. For example when we were riding, she went ahead of us and said, "Come on, you guys!!!!" She NEVER talks like that to us, lolololololololol.

I stayed with her until she was asleep and watched her face, her features....... the same angelic sleeping face I have seen since the day she emerged from my womb......... I couldn't believe it..... and then, mysteriously and slowly, she opened her eyes and smiled at me. She was SO happy and she couldn't help but sigh out quickly and happily. It was so beautiful. SO beautiful.

She's my precious.
