Short Goldy trip in Adventures in paradise

The Gold Coast was alright. I wasn’t there long.
Of course, Brent got held up at work so I was stuck waiting at the train station, which of course was the exact situation I was in that time that fuckhead attacked me, but anyway. There was one other lady waiting near me, and no-one else in sight, so that was a good sign. Her ride picked her up, so I was alone for a while, but then I noticed the lights were still on in the station master’s office and the window seemed to be open, so that made me calm down a bit. I was also annoyed at myself that I hadn’t brought a jacket, despite checking the temperatures at home. I saw it was going to get down to 16 but that the next day was going to be 27, and I didn’t want to be lugging around a jacket with me, so I did without it.
I had to wait about 25 minutes all because one customer at Brent’s work decided he wanted everything marked down at 9pm (when they closed) because of the ANZAC Day holiday the next day ^rolls eyes^ - so yeah he didn’t get out on time. Customers, I tells ya!
When Brent finally arrived he told me he actually yelled at him, “Mate!… I gotta pick up a mate from the train station, can you hurry up!?” LOL.

We stopped in at 7-Eleven for some snacks. I tried the new Dare drink (caramel latte - not bad) and just got some maltezers. Brent’s new place is nice and quite big. For some reason he’s decided to rent out a three-bedroom house all to himself, but at Gold Coast rent prices, it seems doable. He already filled me in on all the neighbour antics and such. His neighbours are pretty quiet and pretty much all of them own dogs, but only one makes noise when the owners aren’t at home.
Anyway, Brent put on ‘It’, which I knew he would, despite my protests. I thought it would scare the shit out of me, which it kinda did, but it could have been worse. I told him I refused to go straight to bed after watching that because I would have nightmares, so he put on a random episode of Family Guy, which happened to be the funniest episode I’ve seen yet. I was in tears laughing. But at least now I could sleep!

Of course, Brent tried something during the night, but I barely remember it. I do remember brushing it off and rolling over away from him. I didn’t wanna hook up with him. I’m trying to put a stop to it and just be his friend, but it might affect things. It affected me and Ben’s friendship when we stopped hooking up. Of course, Brent’s has different dynamics, much like Ryan’s does. They’re all such different guys. Ryan I don’t mind continuing to hook up with (so long as he hasn’t been a cunt to me, which he has recently) but not the other two. I have to be at least somewhat sexually attracted to them, otherwise it just kinda feels like being used.
The worst part is when I’m just horny and want to get off, and then, naturally, regret it later when I’ve come to my senses.

But anyway, it always amazes me how quickly Brent kicks me out the next morning lol. It seems to get quicker each time. I think he was pissed he didn’t get to blow me, but he said he had to go to his parents place and if he could take me to the train station. I’d barely opened my damn eyes!
Anyway, I laid there for like 30 seconds and got up and got dressed. I already had most of my clothes still on (see, I didn’t wanna hook up with him, but it was also cos he’s one of those people who needs noise when he sleeps (hello, Luke!) so he had his fan on and I was cold!)

Instead of going back to Brisbane, I went to Southport to see if I could catch up with my friend Paul, but then my phone battery was almost dead and I didn’t bring any of my many chargers (DOH!). I had some lunch at Nandos (preparing for Portugal ha) and after I left, I soon realized that it didn’t agree with me, so I found myself rushing to find a restroom, even though I had only used one earlier on. So that was a relief when I finally came across a Hungry Jacks and burst in to destroy their porcelain.

I went into Australia Fair to look at the movie times, and they were only opening after 1pm due to the public holiday today, but I wanted to see the new Amy Schumer movie at 2:10pm, so I had some time to kill. I was looking at a noticeboard in the centre when a lady came up to me to ask if anything was open. I told her that only 7-Eleven and the cinemas were open, and she goes, “Fuck 7-Eleven! I need to get my hair and nails done!”
Ohh Gold Coast lol.
She ran off, and I ran into her again probably no more than 10 minutes later outside, and she still hadn’t found any open places. Only some cafes and stuff were opening up for the afternoon it seemed. So I Googled on my phone for her, but it just came up with the normal hours with a notice saying ‘Anzac Day may affect these opening times’, so that was pretty useless. She was wondering whether she should risk the bother of heading into Surfer’s Paradise on the tram or not. She said to me, “So you get today off too, huh?” and I replied, “Well I get every Wednesday off, so it’s not much different to me.”
She then asked what I did for a living and was like, “Wait, let me guess. A lawyer.”
I laughed and said, “I wish I earned that much!”
She continued, “A model?”
Awwww! Anyway, I wished her luck and we went our separate ways.

I also looked for a phone charger in one of the servos, but saw they wanted $60 for it ( :O ) so I was like, ‘fuck that’ and left it and just let my phone go flat and decided to go home rather than seeing a movie, like I had planned. I did message Paul beforehand but he had his husband had just eaten and they have their baby with them too but still said he could catch up later if I wanted, so long as I didn’t mind their baby being with them. Of course not. But since my battery died there was no way to contact him anyway, so that’s twice now in a few weeks that he’s suggested catching up and it hasn’t happened. I have a movie voucher to use up here and I have a bazillion chargers and I sure as hell don’t need another one just because of convenience, especially when I’m trying to save as much as I can.

I still have to work out a budget for Europe. I want to spend my own money over there to avoid foreign transaction and conversion fees. It’s going to be a bloody tight stretch, especially when I don’t know how expensive some cities are to other cities, and other unexpected costs that usually pop up. Fun times!

Anyway, back to work tomorrow. Two more work weeks to go. Hard to believe the size difference between my country and where I’m headed - see little Portugal there?
