The Secret in I don't know....

This actually has a twist of humor to it.

I haven't felt 100% for several days now. My throat has had a niggle to it and scratchy. I have kept going. I went to Bible study yesterday morning and pretty much did normal stuff, though we didn't do piano because our teacher's baby isn't well. I cut our time short at the library and came home and napped, fixed dinner, napped on the couch, went to bed.

Today I got up and fixed grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. Nothing hard. Got school work with the kiddos done and started dinner. It's been snowing and sleeting some today and that has been a welcome sight for us. So, I fixed a big pot of Portuguese soup. I was going to attempt bread, thought about settling for biscuits, but we just ate crackers with it. I wanted to make something else so I made German chocolate cake mix cookies. SO GOOD! Dinner tasted really good to me and felt good on my throat. It's felt better this evening. =)

The humorous part comes when I'm putting away dinner and cleaning up. Eric can't have them. NO WAY. Not with his diabetes. I know he eats candy bars and junk all the time. I know he does. I've seen the wrappers and seen the charges, but he isn't getting it from me. So, the girls and I talked about hiding them. Then, we all looked at each other and said, "Jacob!" I looked at him and said, "Daddy will be home tomorrow. We are going to hide the cookies until Daddy leaves on Sunday. Then, while he is gone, we can have the rest of them." LoL!! He pinky swore with all of us he wouldn't tell. LoL!

It was so funny, though, that we all called him in at the same time and that he pinky swore not to tell. We have hidden treats before. I feel partially bad for doing that, but the other side is that I don't. My husband is diabetic and it's just a huge temptation that most of the time he can't ignore. In some ways it's kinder to hide it and keep the secret than tell him and he not be able to have it. I don't make cookies he can't have very often and I don't make desserts often either. Most of the time we go without.
