Compensation? in A small but passable life.

This morning I finished reading “It’s Even Worse Than You Think” by David Cay Johnston. I’d watched a few of his book tour talks on youtube and decided to read the book. Nothing really new, that I hadn’t heard before. But still it was a interesting read. Like I said in my last entry it is old news now. And of course more outrageous and stupid crap has been bestowed on the planet since the books publication.

So yeah, done with the library pile of books.

I wanted to go to the pool today but the wind was howling. Not for me.

After lunch Mom and I went on a quest to track down Lillie from across the street. We found her on the seventh floor of a hospital twelve miles west of here. She was getting ready to be released. Good news.

Back home, the wind still howling and the dirt in the air almost obscuring the mountain, I turned on NPR and laid down for a bit. I might have even napped for a bit.

We’ve received the last of the refund checks from the cancelled insurance policies. I saved Mom about $900 or a bit more per year by switching companies and consolidating home and auto coverage.

I’ve never asked Mom for any money. Today she volunteered the smallest of the refund checks. $70. Whatever. I’ll take it. I’ll use it to buy the Anker PowerCore 26800 Portable Charger for $65.99. With the sales tax that should be about right. Another item less on my amazon wish list. And my portable power system will be complete. I wish I’d had the system while I was living in the van all those years.

I believe I’m going to talk Mom into buying two new 20” carry-on suitcases. I want those fancy hard-sided ‘spinner’ ones. They are $50 apiece on amazon. I can’t decide if I want the blue one or the black one.

Anyway, I’m back to the non-fiction I put aside a month or so ago to read the stack of library books.

And maybe some pool time tomorrow.
