is there a patron saint of truckstops?
does someone stand for the in-betweens
protecting the liminal places
both seen and those unseen
who watched us at the crossroads
other than the devil’s machines?
is there a patron saint for the people
uoon the altar but aren’t yet married?
a holy mole to side with the souls
who are dying but not yet buried?
they’re engaged but not quite wed
they’re fading but not quite dead
on the cliff but not yet fallen
a saint for the engines stalling?
if there ain’t then that’s my calling
