- When I awoke today… I was mildly annoyed at having to wake so early and come in to work.
- As I got into the rental car, I was struggling to figure out when I would be able to go Car shopping and approximately how much money I was willing to put down for a replacement car.
- When I got to the office, I was unhappy that (even after the Chinese Staff were told we all have to be at the office at 8:30… except for Chinese Boss) the only two people at the office were White Boss and I.
- As I opened my Immigration News and World News trackers, I saw a story about an Arabic Student Visa holder who had been arrested. His story is the perfect example of how our laws are broken. People say “Keep Arabs Out”… that is dumb and short sighted. People say “Ban All Guns”… you disappoint me. I continually say “Address the laws on the books as they are, investigate enforcement, and deal with the giant issues that are present. Don’t simply write new laws so you can have an eponymous bill… actually make shit work.” Because here is the story… a man with a student visa owned a business (this is legally allowed, but he must prove EAD, which requires him to petition the government for work authorization. The government can suspend or revoke that authorization at their discretion.) In January, a violent altercation happened at his business where he was the aggressor and pulled out a shotgun. When police came, they discovered (1) his Student Visa had long since expired, thus (2) he was in the country illegally and (3) ownership of any firearms by this individual was against the law. So… how is that for a 3 hit situation? Illegally in the country, breaking gun laws, being violent towards his own customers. BUT NOTHING HAPPENED TO HIM. He wasn’t detained by ICE, he wasn’t deported, he wasn’t even required to stay in jail. So… an Arabic Man illegally in the United States illegally carrying weapons and already causing violence. The Women’s March in Indiana? It could have been a bloodbath. Because this same man checked into a hotel room with vantage on the march site. He had an arsenal including bump stocks. His scheme was discovered, he was stopped, he was arrested and (if convicted) faces up to 10 years in prison. But analyze all the ways in which the laws ALREADY ON THE BOOKS failed to do their job. This is important to discuss as we move forward in this country. We don’t need “new poorly written laws” we need the laws we have to have meaning.

Proposals: (1) Student Visa expires, you’re put on a watch list… when you come up for any reason in a government database, you’re flagged by immigration. If your student visa is more than 6 months out of date, you are detained and prioritized for deportation. (2) If you are an EAD Business Owner and you are found to be creating a disturbance, causing violence, or scamming customers using your business: your EAD is suspended, an investigation is opened, and if the offense rises to the level of Clear and Present Danger (violence or economic predatory behavior) your EAD is immediately revoked and you are banned from reapplying for EAD for no less than 5 years. (3) If you are found to be in illegal possession of a firearm or ammunition, a search warrant is issued to investigate your domicile and business for other illegal weapons. Every illegal weapon or container of ammunition carries a separate (mandatory consecutive) sentence of jail time. Thus, if you illegally possess an arsenal, you are spending several years behind bars. (4) Bump Stocks and all other accessories that are specifically designed to circumvent the spirit of an existing law shall be considered to be an illegal modification of a firearm for the express purpose of breaking pre-existing regulations. There. Is that possible?
- Then I opened my work folder. And… instantly became angry. Not like… “Oh, here we go again” irate… like a full blown mad thinking “Okay, great. Time to put in more work, deal with more bullshit, in an attempt to make these assholes rich while I don’t see dick for reward and instead have to deal with more bullshit.” I mean… my Dad said it well the other day… this is the best possible reaction, actually. Because the issue is… if, as I was leaving, I kept running into a shit ton of things that made me feel like I should stay… leaving would be difficult. The fact that I keep running into things that make me think “Nuclear powered fuck this shit” means… I’m making the right choice and everything about this place is acting as a strong unwavering reminder that “Yes, leaving was a good choice. Never doubt this choice. Leaving Tiny Town due to size… I can see the doubt. Leaving this place because of the insane Chinese Bullshit? Never doubt this choice.”

Of course… not that I’ll be listened to or that my opinion seems to mean much to Chinese Boss but… in my continuing responses about the Chinese Language research project, I have been asking Muse to do some Chinese Language Research (imagine that) and have been 100% fucking vindicated at every turn. So… my hours of research in English… turned up unreliable Chinglish descriptions of events happening in and around the cities at the times of the award festivals. Muse’s research, which took far less time, turned up information about the fucking award festivals themselves! Because “Chinese Animation Award Festival Province” doesn’t help find much. But being able to type in Chinese the Chinese Characters that specifically and exactly describe the award festival? Seems to help! But it is deeper than that.

I was meant to research (literally the wording used) The Animation Festival Judges. After hours and hours of research… I found nothing. The best I could find was a blog post from someone who attended the festival in 2006 who said the judges were “Joana Grats of Mona Lisa Staircase” and others. But… of course… the actual title of the work was “Mona Lisa Descending a Staircase” put together by Joan Gratz. So my source was fucked, but I had nothing else and put it in. Then Muse does a modicum of research. The word used in Chinese more closely translates to JURY not JUDGE. You see? This is the kind of shit I’m talking about, Chinese Boss. This exactly. If you need something done in Chinese… use your motherfucking Chinese speakers!!

I had to work through lunch, but I’m 60% finished with this damned Chinese Language Research Bullshit Project. Even though Chinese Boss told me to have it finished by the end of the week; she told Muse that it needs to be done by the end of tomorrow. So… again… setting me up to look bad and not finish when she wants it done. Cunt. But by working through lunch, I think I might actually be able to finish this whole damned thing by close of business tomorrow. Hopefully. Exhausting and frustrating work.

Which is sad. Because this is an area that I would otherwise be super excited about. Our client is a dude that helped revolutionize animation in China. Most of the events he has attended that I need to describe to ICE are Festivals and Conventions. I am pouring through articles with pictures of Cos Play and Video Games and Manga and Anime… all things I enjoy. Completely ruined by the Chinese Arrogance. Because… Japanese Festivals and Conventions? You can typically find decent English Language shit. Hell, when Shingeki No Kyojin had taken over Tokyo Tower to be a giant museum piece… I even had access to entire Preview Tours in English. But China believes they are the Ultimate Super Power, better than the U.S. and the use of English is evidence that someone is an anti-party westernized individual who needs to be beaten, tortured, or in any way brought back to proper Chinese Communist principles. That isn’t an exaggeration, that is pretty much the prevailing story of the asylum cases I did. It is funny in that way. As the United States is falling to populism, America First, dangerous hyper-patriotism.... and as many European countries either fall to or fight populism and dangerous hyper-patriotism.... it is interesting to look to China, fully embraced the worst elements of Communism, worship of State, oppression of Citizens, and mandating a pervasive cultural arrogance. It is the same way in Russia. And what do you know? The United States and Europe have both been the target of aggressive meddling by Russian State agents. May be a stretch but… makes me think Communist Countries are like the really bad toddler at Daycare. Constantly thinking “I’m the best. If people say someone else is the best, I’ll beat up the person that said it. Then beat up the person they said it about. And keep doing that until people say I’m the best!”
