territorial pissings in poetry

just because lines on a map
are of functional passing utility
doesn’t make them anything actual
most of the things that the
lines represent are made up
the roads and the buildings
the rivers and cities exist
these little imaginary lines
that seek to divide are lies
to carve up spheres of power
they just represent fiefdoms
that if only carry any weight
if enough of a people believe
that they’re actually there
borders are the monster in the closet
borders are the boogeyman under the bed
let yourself turn on the lights at night
come to see that they are merely
something from someone else’s head
that doesn’t have to be in yours
wipe them out with love
wipe the fiefdoms out with love
wipe the power out with love
love without imaginary restriction
love with an unbounded compassion
and we’ll get somewhere real
someday
