content, content everywhere
but not a place to think
content, content everywhere
contentment, not a wink

I’m not much for drinking
I’m not saying it’s wrong
but you can keep the wine
I’ll go with the women and song

we’re all just Earth suffused with flames
our fire burns out but the clay remains
but the sky won’t listen as we complain
let alone accept its part of the blame

my heart contains my blood and brains
to be someone else’s contentment provider
though as the years wear off and away at me
I must admit the weight it gets no lighter
