Memories, floods and moving on in The View from the Terrace

I've just been watching a TV programme about Torville and Dean winning the gold medal for ice dancing at the Sarajevo Olympics. This Valentine's Day will be the 30th anniversary. I vividly remember watching it at the time. They were 2 hours ahead of us and it was on late evening so we had to stay up until the early hours. It's one of those moments that will always live inside me.

On the news they said that the reservoirs are already full enough to last right through summer. We had a pleasant sunny morning but there is now another storm outside. The water is leaking through our bedroom ceiling. It isn't much but will have to be sorted when the weather calms down a bit. At Dawlish in Devon the main railway line to Cornwall has been swept away by the tide and the rails are now just hanging in mid air.

This morning I noticed that Open Diary had finally gone. I was there last night. I will miss it. I have downloaded my diary but that's just the words. I will miss my green background with purple letters and my border of cats and flowers and the photos. I do have the photos but it would take ages to put them back into the diary.

But we have to move on and this place is growing on me. I have found some old friends and am already making new ones. My writing on OD had become very sporadic and somehow this has motivated me to make more of an effort.
