A little manic? in A small but passable life.

Well, things had to be done which meant I had to put down the book and get out of this chair. I didn’t want to, but needed to.
The insurance was due on the car the current bill was for $1270 for liability for one year on a twelve year old four door sedan. Crazy, I know. So the plan was, the plan since we did the financial stuff years ago, was to put the car in my name and get a quote. I got out the fancy new smartphone and googled for a nearby agent. I called the closest. Nope, they didn’t carry Hartford. I called the second closest, nope, no Hartford. I asked the gal what the deal was with Hartford. She said their rates were outrageous. Okay. Could I come in and talk about insurance? She said to come on in. I did. 4.1 miles away.
Long story short, I bought a policy in my name for $522.39 for one year. I saved Mom over $750.
So today, after my morning coffee Mom and I headed to the DMV or whatever they call it in Arizona. There was no line at all. Nice. I handed over my Missouri license which was still valid for two years. No test of any kind, just pay $10. Okay, nice and easy. I handed over the car title to get it transferred to my name. The gentleman pointed to Mom’s name and then to mine directly beneath hers. I thought that was the “TOD” that was supposed to be on there. He then pointed to the far side of the document opposite our names. There was a lonely “OR” printed there. I’d never noticed that before. We were already co-owners. Okay.
We went over to the insurance office. I introduced Mom. The gal made a copy of my new license and I showed her the title. Everything was copacetic. The car was taken care of. Hell, the plates are even good for the next two years. I showed the insurance gal the homeowner’s policy as per her earlier request. She made a couple of copies and we were done.
Lunchtime. We went to Hacker’s. We both had the lunch special. Meatloaf and mashed taters.
Once back home I called my sis-in-law and told her how we had forgot something way back when we did all that financial stuff. We hadn’t thought of the homeowner’s policy when my brother and I had taken over title to the lot and property. The policy was still in Mom’s name! In other words she had a policy on something she no longer owned. And WE had no insurance policy! Got to fix that.
The insurance gal called a little later and said she could do a policy for $410 vs. the $530 for the old policy. And she said by bundling it with the car insurance she could reduce the car policy payment.
See, you can’t do this kind of stuff online, or at least I can’t. I like to talk face to face with people.
Anyway, my sis-in-law suggested buying some snapchat stock when it goes public in a couple of weeks. She had bought $2000 worth of facebook stock when it went public. She says it’s worth about 8k now. I don’t know. The only way I’ve ever made money is by punching a time clock. I’m not a gambler. It just doesn’t appeal to me.
So yeah, in the morning, after coffee, I’ll head over to the insurance office. And then maybe in the afternoon it will be warm enough to return to the pool.
I swept out part of the carport and vacuumed the rug in here today.
I shredded the old car insurance file.
I had a long phone conversation with Daughter.
The last couple of days seem rather manic after weeks of just sitting in this chair.
Oh well.
