Is it good to be a gangster? in Book Five: Working Through the Maze 2018

Another reason to be a prosecutor besides making a lot more money, driving a lot less, and not being required to celebrate when criminals aren’t held accountable?

A prosecutor on a case I’m working is young. Like… 27 or 28 young. So, she can’t have been working as a prosecutor for more than a few years at MOST. She had a week long vacation during the Holidays. She is on Vacation again today and tomorrow. And these are vacations where she isn’t required to take Client Phone Calls. Isn’t required to return E-Mail. Isn’t required to work. I don’t even get that on sick days when I have a fever!

Much in that same spirit… Chinese Boss seems to be going home early on a more regular occasion.

AND YET

Despite those things which should encourage me that taking some much needed time out for myself is acceptable?

I get a little praise at work, I see my billables increase and I stop and think “Really? I mean… the bosses are going to be upset and you’re making money… do you really want to leave?” Which is irksome. Because the response back is “OF Course. Stop asking. At the very least, we’re going to get this body healthy and take it on an actual damned vacation. We’ve been putting off all of that for seven years already, we’re putting our foot down!” But there’s still that asshole that keeps saying, “Really?”
