Plagued. in Chapter 2 : The Elle Era

The boiler filter burst and fucked our house up. The damage is monumental, we have no floor, nothing, we are waiting for PAT testing on ALL the electrics in the kitchen and bedrooms, the TV, laptop, Hub and Fridge are all OK though. Phew. The loft is more or less destroyed and will have to be re-insulated, re-lagged and possibly re-wired AFTER everything has been dried in there and stripped out. The whole house needs re-painting as the flood has stained the walls throughout the house, we need all new woodwork, inside and out. The water was running through the bedroom ceiling and out through the window (i kid ye not), all the coving needs stripping and replacing. We have cracks in the most random places due to water damage. My camera bit the bullet as did both our phones. Our sofa and our clothes need to be cleaned as they smell of damp so the laundry bills are horrific at the moment. Unsurprisingly no-one will take the blame so we have had to claim it all on the Home Insurance (thank god we have it…if you don’t have it then get it!!) and that will cover us for everything and it won’t affect our premium , thank fuck. Once the insurance company has found out who is liable then we can make a private claim against the dickhead that failed to spot the issue when it got serviced the week before it burst and destroyed our home.
