Current book: It’s “The Barefoot Investor”. Yeah, I know, I’m one of those people. Well, sort of but not really. I do things a fair bit different to how this guy does things, but the book really is a good read and a reminder on where and how your money can go many different places and how it adds up or down over the years. I don’t have the texta pen out and writing all over my cards nor am i getting out scissors and cutting up my credit card (although I do want to close one account I never use but it’s annual-fee-free anyway), but I followed a few bits of advice in it (‘Fire Extinguisher’ accounts - which I’ve had for years anyway - and also disagreed with some (his ‘recommended’ Superannuation fund charges double the amount of fees of what mine does, annually, yet he claims he gets no kickbacks from companies, so I’m a bit skeptical about that bit). It’s a brilliant book for those struggling with debt and just offers smart strategies rather than struggling with useless budgets which everyone hates. I think I like it’s approach to money more than anything - basically spend 60%, save 35-40% so you aren’t hard-assing it each week. It’s one of those books I can go back to, as I’m still a bit cloudy on it’s Superannuation and share advice. All that stuff is pretty mumbo-jumbo to me, especially on a below-average income. I’m enjoying it.
Current music: I just worked out my favourite 100 songs of the year, and as usualy it’s a mix of chart-pop and country music mostly. My favourite two songs ended up being “Cut To The Feeling” and “Sign Of The Times”, so this month is pretty much being spent listening to that Playlist and me cursing at how much worse Apple Music/Itunes is compared to Spotify. I’m gradually getting used to it (I’m anti-Apple).
Current film: After seeing “Call Me By Your Name” on the weekend, it’s by-far that. I found a torrent yesterday so I’m happy I can re-watch it.
I still love how good “Better Watch Out” was for a horror-comedy Christmas film too.
Current TV show: Just finished watching Season 2 of “Stranger Things” (pretty awesome) and up to date on “Riverdale” (hmmm, watch this space), but my major favourite is the American version of “Shameless” - I’m making my way through Season 7 on Netflix atm. Fuck that show is hilarious.
Current self image thoughts: Yeah, it’s okay. I’m averaging around 100kg and I haven’t gymmed in well over a week due to being sick, but I’m planning on going back tonight. My membership runs out at the beginning of next year, so I’m sure I’ll do the annual shop-around. I’ll probably stick with Jetts if they offer me ‘mates rates’ as it’s a good deal, although I would absolutely love to go back to my old gym, Goodlife, IF they offer their deal like they did last year around Boxing Day time, now that a lot of their gyms are 24 hours. They may still be far too expensive (and inconvenientat this stage) for me though so I’ll wait and see. Still have a few weeks to think about it. I like the idea of the gym having a steam room, as I’ve been reading about the health benefits and man that would have helped a lot with my cold this week!
Current clothing thoughts: I need serious style help. I’ve never had it and I feel like I never will. I don’t want to walk around looking like a wanker with chains and grillz either. My style is just comfort. Whatever feels good and is easy to move around in. Hence why I’m barely ever caught dead in jeans. But it’s so annoying that I almost feel like I have to feel uncomfortable to look stylish! Being tall is a bitch when it comes to style, especially my issues with finding decent size 12 men’s shoes anywhere.
Current outfit: It’s very little at the moment. I’m in my underwear because it’s a bazillion degrees out, although it’s nearing evening so it’s cooling down nicely atm. This Summer’s gonna be a bitch and a half!
Current guilty pleasure: Nectarines are back in season. I know they aren’t bad but man, I am downing them like lollies lately.
Current favourite drink: probably still normal orange juice, or Aloe Vera, although only the sugary variety of that tastes good so I avoided buying it at the supermarket today.
Current project: Compiling camping stuff. I think I have almost everything but the camp-chair. I also need to work out an itinerary while I’m there so that I’m not stuck around the campsite the entire time as I won’t know anyone and I know I will be awkward as fuck, especially surrounded by hundreds of slutty gay men in the middle of buttfuck (HA) nowhere (I know right!).
Current wants: A couple of million dollars would be nice. A house.
Current needs: I don’t think I need anything, really.
Current bane(s) of my existence: Nick not interacting with us other three housemates, having to deal with my family at Christmas (this is an annual thing so I’m more-than-used to the taboo subject of my entire life not even being mentioned around the lunch-table) - even though Australia now has gay marriage (THANKYOU!) does not mean anything will have changed with the midset of my backward family lol), the week of work ahead of me during Christmas retail when people seem to think it’s okay to treat retail staff like shit. Not that it’s happened yet but it sure as heck does. BE NICE TO RETAIL WORKERS IF YOU’RE READING THIS!!!
Current triumph: Having a fun mini holiday away and getting my phone back after thinking I’d lost it.
Current excitement: I guess it’s Tropical Fruits. I mean, I am nervous and excited about camping at the same time because I haven’t done it since I was a kid, so now as an adult, I feel way out of my comfort zone.
Current feeling: Pretty good! Booked in for a haircut on Friday after work so hopefully I can cool down a bit by taming down the mane.
