First day of Winter in At the foot of the hill

A little light snow here in the pre-dawn hour on the first day of winter. After several days of temps in the high 50’s, it’s not supposed to get above freezing today. The good news is that the days start getting longer now and before we know it will be the first day of spring!

I have been busy on a project the last couple of days that has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas. When we moved into this apartment we put my big 4-drawer file cabinet in the closet in the office/guest room. It lurked in there for five years, taking up half the closet space. I wanted the space back and there was a perfectly good corner available in the room. It was a major move to get the thing out of the closet. The file drawers are much more accessible now and there is room in the closet for extra coats, dress clothes and those too-big/too-small ones that we keep for when we lose/gain weight. I will get the clothes moved today.

Another plus: I have a head start on sorting files for the new year. I will have a project for another day or two with the shredder.

I am grateful today that my son-in-law had a successful surgery on his torn bicep yesterday. It will be a long and probably painful recovery, but he should be fine.

And good news for my granddaughter who lost her job a couple of weeks ago. She will start at a new, better position Jan. 2. Not only is she highly qualified in many areas, she’s got good genes! She will do well.
