A day of errands started with taking Mom to her dentist. After that we went to Denny’s for lunch. Mom got to use her AARP 15% discount. We had enough food left to box up and take home. Next stop was Joann’s so Mom could look for material. I of course went next door to my favorite Goodwill store.

I was wandering around after perusing books and spotted a cool looking hat on a shelf. I picked it up and plopped it on my head. A perfect fit! And the style was awesome! And it was only $7! Of course I bought it.

I’ve been searching for a good hat for DECADES, but because of my unusual pinhead size they’ve always been way too big.

After leaving there we went to Walmart so Mom could search further for her material.

A quick stop by the bank drive-thru and we were headed home. Mom was done for the day, falling asleep in the car.

After dropping her off I headed to the grocery store with a list.

At the checkout I zeroed out the Missouri EBT card. It wasn’t recharged on the 15th. So it is finished. I guess that 6 ½ years of collecting SNAP benefits is over.

I came home and put away the groceries.

I just dropped Mom off to play cards with her friends.

I just looked up the hat. Barney’s of New York. Made in Italy. 75% pure wool. 10% cashmere. 15% polyamide. Corduroy. I couldn’t find the exact looking hat but the price of similar hats seems to be somewhere between $69 and $189. Since this hat looks brand new I’m going to say I got a good deal.

And the fit? The hat says 55/6 7/8/ S. I used Mom’s tape measure and measured my noggin. Hmmm, 55cm! Can’t get any closer than that!

So yeah, cargo shorts, my favorite Hawaiian shirt, flip-flops, and a really cool hat! Call me the Gray Man. I’m blending in nicely with all the other oldsters here.

Daughter did bring my sea straw hat to me so that’ll be my summer time hat.

I am still looking for a silk top hat, you know, for formal occasions.
