This Grateful Heart in Everyday Ramblings

Wednesday late afternoon on my way to class.
Yesterday afternoon in Salem with Jack and Henry. Those are heated cat beds there under those towels in front of the gas fireplace.
My brother-in-law Most Honorable is working on his second side hustle for after he retires from teaching and releases his tenure. His first is bike repair and now he is in the process of becoming a master knife sharpener, a useful skill for sure.
A few weeks back when he was up here he took my big chef’s knife home with him to sharpen. (He even gave it a page in the Family and Friends section of his sharpening log). We didn’t feel it was a good idea to carry a big knife on the train so he drove up early yesterday with the knife and then took me home with him for a lovely meal and some relaxing family time.
I took the bus home later in the day.
Because he is on sabbatical and Kes is retired they had the leisure to plan out, shop for and prep our relatively simple Thanksgiving feast beforehand, which made yesterday easy and calm for all of us.
We had turkey breast cooked on a pellet grill, sautéed mushrooms, roasted Brussels sprouts, sweet potato fries, homemade cranberry sauce with orange (and half the sugar) and they had slow cooker stuffing. We had a lovely (again homemade) apple and cranberry crumble for dessert after a walk. They even had a holiday themed tablecloth.
And it was a rainbow sort of day. We heard tell of them during an encounter with the extended family of one of their neighbors (also fun to see a whole bunch of siblings together) and then I saw a partial rainbow of my own on the ride home over some farmland.
I am not much of a shopper so other than groceries I will avoid that today and just chill.
In my warm cozy comfortable dry apartment instead of in an alcove on a wet sidewalk behind some public bike parking fixtures in a densely populated area downtown.
