Hog Wild (But Modestly) in Everyday Ramblings

This is the west side of the Steel Bridge yesterday morning at 8:30AM. There was a whole crew of runners passing by because as you can see it was not raining but if you look closely you can see tents under the ramp up to the bridge. I am trying to both get shots of the camps of folks living rough on the cold hard ground and to get, well, interesting and good pictures.
Clearly services are both being offered and enforcement is being taken seriously, there were no tents on the lead up to the east side of the bridge as there always are.
Mrs. Sherlock is most enthusiastic about this photo project of mine as I introduced her to it yesterday.
I was telling her I listened to a podcast I had saved that was mostly an interview with a young man from Kentucky talking about his experience with opioid addiction and his message was clear…we need high quality treatment centers (i.e. we need to spend money on these services) and to never ever give up hope for the addict.
The money our government did not release after saying they would, the difference between a public health emergency and a national emergency.
When I was walking home from the train station on Thursday I ran into a couple of young men looking for the liquor store. (We have state authorized liquor stores here, you can’t just buy hard alcohol anywhere.)
One was talking to the other and he was furious. He was complaining bitterly about how his girlfriend had called the cops on him when he had overdosed this last time and he wasn’t even on probation anymore and it had all created a world of trouble for him.
Yesterday in our Weight Watchers meeting we were asked to call to mind something at the time that seemed difficult and overwhelming and well, bad… that we are now grateful for.
My heartfelt wish is that vital young man who has a mother somewhere is someday ruefully grateful for the actions of said girlfriend.
My big gratitude along these lines is for the genetic anomaly that makes my sweat glands not work properly that inspired me to get relief by learning to be active.
Through that hardship I eventually turned towards yoga and teaching yoga is the joy of my life. Well, that and my family and the cats. :)
Apropos of nothing, my deeply held opinion is that is Harvey Weinstein that needs to be in jail not the young man looking for the liquor store on Thanksgiving Day. The young man needs to be in treatment, the predator needs to be segregated from society for the rest of his life and his privileges removed.
Not that he isn’t redeemable.
There is much good he could do to help others while incarcerated and young women are safe from him. He then becomes the old overweight cultured guy he actually is to be shunned, grossed out by and laughed at by teenage girls. Both addicts, but one is currently powerless (hence the anger) and one is way too powerful, hence the denials.
I need to get going and get some of that aforementioned activity and then home to domestic chores. I had a box of organic cranberries explode on me at the self-checkout on Friday and they went everywhere. Today I need to cook their replacements and contemplate doing something about the mess in my big closet.
Whether I actually do something about the closet has yet to be seen.
Having four days is a row off has been such a marvel I am thinking about going hog wild and doing it again at Christmas.
