Thoughts On...that wedding in Thoughts On...

I will preface this by saying that I am a) a fan of Major Crimes b) not really a SHANDY shipper and c) in a snarky mood.
This is the final season of Major Crimes which is a little disheartening since it is one of the few shows that I actually really enjoy and is able to come up with a lot of material that is not repetitious (I am looking at you OneChicago!). The change for this season is doing longer arc stories. The first one Sanctuary City was a five episode “case”. It was not that interesting of a case either. From the first episode, you could see that they were going to give Sharon an illness. Which of course they did. To their credit, it was not cancer or a tumor. This week’s episode was the culmination of the case & the much hyped wedding of Sharon and Andy Flynn. The superfans have been all up on the Shandy wedding for months now and yesterday the hype was all “let’s get #ShandyWedding trending. Even the actors were getting in on it.
The “wedding” was five minutes of walking down the aisle and joining hands at the altar. Seriously, there was more of a wedding when Provenza & Patrice got married at City Hall! The spotlight was more on the “singer” who happens to be Mary McDonnell’s daughter. Not sure why Rusty was just a “ring-bearer” and not a groomsman, but those are little things I guess. The bridesmaid dresses were gorgeous (although I think Emily should have been her mom’s maid of honor, not Patrice who she has not really known that long). The bride’s dress as all sorts of ugly matronly. To me, it was not flattering at all! She should have taken a cue from Patrice’s wedding dress…it was perfect for a second and later in life ceremony.
The case for Sanctuary City was probably the most boring that has ever been. It was not arc worthy and in the end there was no real twist or surprise, nothing that was shocking. And five freaking episodes? No.
