An errand day. in A small but passable life.

Saturday was Veteran’s Day. Mom didn’t make it to the flag raising. I basically took that whole day off by lying down and listening to the radio and napping.
Yeah, I’m a veteran. A veteran of the Cold War. I was in West Germany standing guard against the Red Menace, The Commies, The Ruskies. Good German beer and hash.
Enough said about all that.
Yesterday I went to the pool early for a few hours. A nice semi-cloudy day.
Today, this morning was errands. First stop was the hospital for a blood draw for
Mom. Next stop was Lowe’s for four bags of white rock. The bags said white but the rocks in them weren’t white. I’ll have to find another source. The third stop was the X-ray place for Mom. Fourth stop was Walmart where Mom was on a quest for fabric to finish a quilt. The last stop was a new Mexican place for lunch. We took our order to go. We headed home, postponing the last two stops, the grocery store and filling up the car, for another day.
The food wasn’t that good and rather bland for Mexican. We won’t be going back.
It was now noon. I retired to my little space and laid down and turned on the radio to NPR. And there went the whole afternoon.
Mom is out playing cards with her friends. I’ll go retrieve her at 8pm.
Tomorrow I may return to the pool. I need to lounge on the other side of the pool as I’m baking unevenly.
I did find a nice novel in the little RV park library.
Anyway, I think I’ll go have a bowl of Rice Chex for supper.
