I am absolutely enthralled with your comments on the Gold Stars entry. This piece has been “published” four times; Twice in journals (here in PB and once in OD), once in a magazine and once in a series of lectures on politics in the 1940s. I believe that this is the first time it has been exposed to an international audience.
1.) I was delighted to receive comments from outside the US. Your thoughtful information as to the mindset of your countries’ general populace and your personal observations add much to y world view. How I wish I could converse with each of you.
2.) I am surprised at how many private comments there were, but I don’t understand why people (several countries, including, but not exclusive to, the US) felt the need for privacy. That, too, I would like to discuss.
3.) There are no comments from males. It has suddenly occurred to me that I have no older male readers these days. Most of them were lost when OD failed. I miss them. I sadly miss them. A certain lack of balance develops. Le sigh!
BTW: I’m glad that most of you seemed to understand that, in this piece, I was acknowledging feelings that I would vastly prefer not to have, but of which I have not yet been able to rid myself.
Thank you, gentle readers, for adding to my life this week. Come again soon, won’t you?
