It’s been a pretty good week I guess, except that my wrist started hurting again, but oh well, I’ll live. Mental health has been okay. The gym is helping a lot with that so I’ve been feeling good.
I’ve been up to heaps but just haven’t felt like writing about it, and I saw this NoJoMo thing has started up again. I’ve never done it in the past so I’ll just write the prompts when I feel like it.
I’ve missed a few days, so here we go.
- How was your year to this date?
It’s partly been boring, kinda groundhogdayish, but kinda cool as well. It’s interesting getting older and having perspective on life and where I’m heading. The Great Australian Dream still appears absolutely impossible but there’s still a glimmer of hope. Highlights I guess were going to Tropical Fruits (going again this year for the full festival), went to Mardi Gras (again) checked out Darwin and made my first ever trip to New Zealand via Auckland.
- What is one small, yet defining moment in your life that may seem insignificant to others?
Well for me, I guess it was coming out to my parents in 2003. You know, when it wasn’t “cool” to do so. The fact they still struggle with it to this day is laughable, but I won’t go into that broken-record again.
Travelling to UK/Europe solo was a huge step for me personally also.
- How did a random stranger make an impact on you?
I had to think for a while about this one, and the one memory that came to me was way back in primary school. I was a real goodie two-shoes shy kid, but for some reason on this day in class, I got in trouble by the teacher. Or rather, I had done something (I can’t even remember what it was now) and the teacher demanded to the class to own up who had done it.
I remember feeling panicked and as I was about to admit that it was me, a kid in my class (who was a known rebel so not really a ‘stranger’) stood up and took the blame for me.
The feeling I had was such disbelief (that someone could do something so nice like that) even though he may have had his own reasons for doing it. We weren’t close at all, but it made me see a new side of him.
I have this same feeling whenever someone does something nice that surprises me.
This was a dumb answer but I couldn’t think of much else. The other answer would be whenever I see a hot guy - that sure has an impact on me lol.
