Calm under fire, isn’t that what a good Captain is?

I have to cover in another store once a week. This all stems from a bit ago when there was a mutiny among managers and a bunch quit at once. Covering is one thing.

I’m stressed because this store hasn’t gotten their biannual inspection yet. I feel pride that I passed last July, but I’ll give due credit to my General Manager. One short text, and she flew into the store without even showering, effectively covering my ass. Sure, I set the store up. But she’s a 25 year veteran. She knows what to look for.

I won’t get popped for the same shit twice.

Oh, if only you knew the stupid shit you can lose points for, that the average customer would go “I don’t give a frak, give me my frakking food.”

My inspection last July? 9:30 am on a SATURDAY. This is practically unheard of. Recently, a store got hit at 8:30 pm.

It’s one thing to coach the crew you know. It’s another to be a hard-ass to a bunch of people you don’t know. Last time I was there? Chick had a cup of soda on the line. We were getting killed, so I didn’t scold her heavily. Low volume store = no people. My store is high volume, and I’d fire someone for doing something like that. Once caught a kid eating on the line. Fired him on the spot.

I still don’t know what day this will be. I dropped by the store to get a pep talk from the Boss Lady. She saw how absolutely nervous I was during the inspection, and said it probably effected the crew. (I literally had only two/three other employees during my inspection; it was morning.) She told me to take a deep breath and relax.

Translation? Well. What would I tell myself? I got the highest inspection score in our area. (Seriously, I did. Well, Boss Lady and I did.)

Mr. Sulu, standard orbit.

(I got this, I got this, I got this, I got this, I got this, I got this, I got this. :: crosses fingers :: )
