The summer is going by quickly. I can hardly believe it is August 12th already. I was born in Charlottesville, Virginia and I have been watching news coverage of the racist hatred in Charlottesville the past couple of days. It is very appalling. Seriously Charlottesville, we can do a lot better.
In happier news, our family has been having a good summer. In July, my husband’s family rented a cabin by a lake in Maine. We were invited to stay at the cabin for a week. It was very nice. We did a lot of swimming and fishing. We also did some hiking. We had good weather and were able to swim most days.
The kids also went to a sports camp for two weeks. It was a sleepaway camp, and they had a good time. There were a lot of regular summer camp activities in addition to sports, such as canoeing and swimming. They also went to Six Flags and a water park.
School starts September 7th, so there is still a good bit of summer vacation left. Kayla and Timmy will be in tenth grade and Aaron will be in seventh grade. Next summer the twins will be able to get a learner’s permit to start learning to drive.
The twins have been doing some babysitting this summer. There are several neighbor children whom they babysit for on weekends, depending on their schedule.
