Nothing much. in A small but passable life.

Email from the library telling me two novels on my list had arrived. I went and checked them out. I’m halfway through a non-fiction heavy on economics. I thought I deserved a break. I read the first one in one day. “Gwendy’s Button Box” by Stephen King and Richard Chizmar. A nice little novella. I’m now two days into an obscure Aldous Huxley novel that was finally located in the Nogales, AZ library.

I forgot to mention in my last entry that it has been 96 days since I’ve worn socks or shoes. Or long pants. Or anything with sleeves.

A short instruction guide to pee bottle maintenance: A half gallon milk jug is about the right size. Try not to let it get past half full. After dumping it into a commode put about two ounces of water in it, recap and give it a good shake. Dump that and flush. Put about an ounce of water into it add ONE drop of body wash or liquid hand soap or shampoo into it. Recap and shake well. Next time you take the lid off it will smell like soap and smell like soap for quite a while. My jug has Apr. 25 stamped on it and still smells like soap.

Life lessons.

Someone mentioned Oregon’s assisted suicide law here on PB. I remember a story about a young gal, a young mother, who was diagnosed with a glio-blastoma tumor who moved there just to use the law. I remember thinking about how Carly Lomas (google her. everything is there except her Open Diary) lived with hers for five good years and chronicled the whole thing on OD. And then she died two months before Bruce pulled the plug on OD and erased her diary. She actually wrote an entry just a couple of days before she died. The gal who moved to Oregon chose to die before even starting treatment.

Just something I still think about.

So yeah, still hotter than Hades outside. The red and yellow flowers have died. The purple ones are still hanging in there.
