I know. I know. God laughs when we make plans.... But I have a few anyhow.
These plans started last night with dinner with old friends whom we first met in Wyoming in the late 1960’s. We found them again in North Dakota in the 70’s, and here in the southwest suburbs of Denver in 2000. After dinner we went to the Dead Hippy Brewery where Mike was doing a show. Lots of people we know there and Mike and Nick did a great job. Seems like the audience enjoyed them, because when we left they were cheering “Encore!” “Just one more!” The guys were putting their guitar straps back on.
Tomorrow we will go to a party with a small group of friends from our senior club. The host couple have the best parties!
Wednesday we have a meeting to plan the events over the summer quarter for the club. We have a potluck with some type of program as well as an outing of some type each month. Program could be a speaker, entertainment, group interaction, etc. The outing might be a trip to a museum, play, picnic, or as simple as getting together for lunch. Four or five members do the planning and preparation for three months and we are supposed to take a turn every two years.
Thursday we will get together with old friends (see above) and some really “old” friends whom we used to play bridge with until some spouses passed away or developed dementia and moved into care facilities… Sad, but a fact of life. We meet two or three times a year for pizza and fellowship.
We’re scheduled to play bridge with our couples group Friday or Saturday but haven’t been contacted in that regard yet.
Well, that’s just this week, and I left out the usual small activities here in our building. Now I’m tired....
