I was having these chips
I was eating these chips
I was eating these chips from a bag from the store
I was eating these chips called “A Hint of Lime” chips
and I thought to myself, self?
this is a very honest name for chips from a bag
that you buy in the store on a whim when you’re
otherwise getting gas or placing bets or whatever
they’re admitting that lime has not gotten within
a goddamned country mile of these imitation tortilla chips
merely some kind of industrial chemical ester that…
hints at the idea of being lime-flavoured
“A Hint Of Lime” chips
not actual lime, not even pulped-lime by-product
fished out of bottles of bad Mexican beer behind some college bar
a HINT of lime
I like it, it is
straight-forward in its perversion of the natural
I want more of these flavours in my grocery bag
I want more of this bald-faced honesty in their fraud

A Barest Suggestion of Lemon
An Accusation of Chipotle
An Allusion Toward Beef
A Whisper of Vanilla
An Insinuation of Cheese
An Educated Guess at Carrot Cake
A Daydream of Malt Vinegar
An Inference of Tomato
A Reminiscence of Mint Chocolate Chip
A Goddamned Hearsay of French Onion!

“A Hint of Lime”
fuck you Tostidos
you are not the cause of our problems
but goddamn if you aren’t one fucking
acute symptom of everything wrong
“A Hint of Lime”
holy shit
