your holy words of truth won’t fall
from the tips of ancient desert priesthoods’ holy writ
or from the lips of some prosperity gospel CEO who doesn’t give a shit
your holy words of truth may manifest as scrawls on public bathroom stalls
or as graffiti spray within abandoned housing project walls
only you will know the message in that mystery haul
because everyone’s holy words are different
no one else’s passcode will tell you what you need to know
something else for each of us, one down seven billion to go
scribbled on a hamburger wrapper or in a long-forgotten tune
it awaits the glory of discovery but
it won’t come to you
you have to look in places
you have to look in faces
where you never thought you’d ever go
if you want to find your truth
if you want to know
why
