If the shit does hit the fan, (which in these cases is usually a lot). I would only be worried if the fan is a nice industrial one, because a cheap one will likely break on impact.
Not to mention… what if the fan isn’t turned on when it happens? Then what’s the big deal? Unless of course it’s your fan.
