As I stated in an earlier entry, we arrived and checked in at Hotel 43. Thursday afternoon, the wife is just touching base with the “other” GUC’s (Gonzaga University Clucking Society). Yes I named them that about 30 some odd years ago. Two out of the six still bristle, but they still refer to themselves as the GUC’s.
There was a small dinner gathering, at the home of the parents of the Groom, with friends and family.
Friday May 19th Boise:
Texts and plans are in her phone. We decide to eat breakfast in town. A couple blocks walk, to Goldy’s Breakfast Bistro. Great place, and a 20 minute wait. Hey we’re on vacation, and have most of the morning on our own. After breakfast we decide to walk to the Boise State Capitol Building. it is about 6 blocks away. The Senate and House are out of session, but the building is open.
We see a protester on the sidewalk. He is peaceful and holding signs. IMPEACH JUDGE WILLIAMS A TRAITOR TO THE STATE OF IDAHO. I don’t know about Idaho State politics, but the Judge is retired, but on special call to aid the Fourth Judicial District. Is what it is.
The Idaho State Capitol Building
This is looking down from the ground or first floor of the Capitol’s rotunda, if that is the correct terminology. This place is 99% Marble and absolutely beautiful
This is looking upward to the Dome
Who remembers these old school mail drops. This goes from the very top floor to the basement
Marble stairs with Brass handrails. They don’t build ‘em like this anymore
This is the top floor, looking directly across
The House Chambers on the second floor oft he Capitol
The disclaimer .... There was another on the opposite end for the Senate
Chambers too
Looking into the observation windows on the third floor into the Senate Chambers
This was a gift from France.. now to the state of Idaho or? Moral of the story
Don’t text and Fly
The Marble Pillars, and supporting structure
The Greats Seal of Idaho, this is the door to the Attorney General’s Office
The tour is done in the State Capitol. A magnificent structure, and i haven’t even done my own Capitol in Denver.
Levity:
In my railroad career..I have been called a lot of stuff. I came to Boise, and this is what I found on a marquee, in a small theater..
Serious What abuse....My sons thought this was great, so I am probably plastered all over the Internet lol........
The “Saint” and the woman who has put up with me for 32 years coming on 33, and close to 40 years of the Railroad…
