Still too much! in A small but passable life.

Daughter and I got out and about Tuesday. We went to Lowe’s where I bought a five foot piece of 1½” Schedule 40 plastic pipe and two caps. That will complete a project I’ve meant to do for years. I have two fly fishing rods. A bamboo that was my Grandpa’s and I received after he died. That one resides in a nice aluminum case I bought for it. The other one is a fiberglass rod that Grandpa had given me when I was a wee one. I had them both rebuilt nearly twenty years ago for $100. The 60” pipe I bought I sawed down to 52” and the caps stay on pretty well by friction alone. So, no more worrying about the fly rods being damaged while stored.

And speaking of storage. I swore that when I got the crap out of the storage unit and packed into the van that I’d never again use a storage unit. But with the youngsters planning on putting all their crap into storage and giving up the house indefinitely and with me not able to take my crap with me, I’ll be putting some stuff into their storage unit and paying part of the rent.

Which means I’ll be storing:

My old Army footlocker with the custom black Formica top to make it into a coffee table.

My old Army duffle bag full of Winter clothes. Two leather jackets, a goosedown coat, my Walking Coat, and my Walls insulated coveralls are hanging in the laundry room.

My loaded full-sized backpack.

My black duffle bag containing my goosedown sleeping bag in its storage bag.

My green rolling carry-on containing my empty leather briefcase, my empty black knapsack, my empty manbag, and my empty brown Columbia shoulder satchel.

A large plastic tote containing my kitchen and household items.

A small plastic tote containing odds and ends.

And the two fly rods in their cases, my hiking staff, my umbrella I found in the Hardee’s restroom, the footstool I found in the alley, my lawn chair, my camp table, my lamp, and the mattress I’ve been using, oh yeah, the two Coleman summer sleeping bags that are zipped together. I’ll throw my pillows away. They were only $3 apiece and they’re eight (?) years old.

I’ll be taking the check-in suitcase (40lbs. or less) and my new knapsack (20lbs. or less).

So much for “Two boxes, two bags.”

Too much stuff. But it used to be way more stuff. Way, way more.

I think I’ve found my new laptop. It’s an Acer on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-E5-575-33BM-15-6-Inch-Processor-Generation/dp/B01K1IO3QW/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1493321065&sr=1-3&keywords=acer+laptop

It’s the #1 seller and it’s only $349.99 My first laptop was in 2002. A Gateway (XP!) for $995. My second laptop, this one, is a Dell (Vista!) for $495 which I bought eight years ago in 2009. I mean, whenever this one craps out the Acer looks plausible. The Gateway still works. Only the screen won’t work. I had hooked it up to a monitor a few months ago and it works fine. It is now laid to rest in my footlocker.

Anyway, three more days and I’ll be out of here.
